Sprockett's Scent Detection Classes

Haley scenting

Canine Sport Detection is based on scent detection used by police and military to find narcotics and explosives. For our classes we will be using legal scents for obvious reasons.

In the six week sessions your dog will learn to search for and indicate a specific scent. All dogs are welcome from purebred to mixed breeds, young and old, any dog can do it!

Pre-requisites: NONE

Location: Sprockett's West, Unit 12B 360 Keewatin Avenue

Cost: $100.00 + gst

These classes are for all dogs that are new to the sport or have not achieved their "Started Level Title". Dogs in this class will be working towards attending a Sport Detection Dog Association (SDDA) Trial to achieve their SDDC Started Title.

Class Format

All new clients will be placed in a beginner class where they will be introduced to the sport of Scent Detection and begin the process of introducing a scent (Wintergreen) to their dog.

Returning clients of dogs that have already been started on a scent will be placed in appropriate groups to develop and practice effective and reliable scent detection. Additional scents (Pine and Thyme) will be added as confidence grows.
