Sprockett's - EAST Obedience Classes

Classes are held at Sprockett's East - Unit 7, 975 Thomas Ave., Wpg.

Our instructors are Tracy Barker and Gail Newman - formally of Canine Instructional Academy

Classes are $120 per session (includes GST) with each session being 6 weeks.

Spots are limited. Due to high demand of classes, Payment in Full is required at the time of registration to reserve your spot.

Class Dates - Thursday Nights

  • Thursday, May 9, 2019 - Thursday, June 13, 2019

Beginner Class - Starts at 6:30 PM

The Beginner Class is the foundation in which obedience exercises are introduced and these will form the building blocks for future success with your pet. Focus on attention and socialization are introduced. Basic obedience exercises such as sit, down, stay, come when called and how to walk on a leash are taught. These basic exercises teach the dogs to be well mannered pets that are welcome in the community.

Novice Class - Starts at 6:50 PM

Novice is for the graduates of the Beginners class. This class reinforces and polishes the exercises taught in the Beginners class. Novice class is designed to build on enthusiasm and drive in both the dog and the handler. Focusing on attention continues as well as the recall, sit and down stays, figure 8, stand for examination and heeling on and off leash.

Meet Our Instructors

Tracy Barker
Tracy Barker

Tracy has been training dogs for over 35 years.

She started in Obedience with Collies and reached the highest obedience title, Utility with them.

Tracy has trained her dogs and competed with them earning various Obedience titles, Rally Obedience titles as well as the Canine Good Neighbor title.

Tracy switched to Doberman Pinschers after the Collies and is currently busy training them. She has also trained Cocker Spaniels and Boston Terriers.

Gail Newman

Gail has been training dogs for over 30 years. Her first love is Competitive Obedience, but she has also shown in Conformation

Gail began training with German Shepherd dogs, moved to Schipperke's and most recently to Papillon's.

Gail has titled multiple dogs to the Utility Level in competitve obedience with many "High in Trial". She has competed in the USA and titled dogs there as well. Gail also trains and competes in Rally Obedience.

Currently she shares her life with one Schpperke and two Papillons.
